Nash Timbers newsletter will discuss the properties of Blackbutt Timber and introduce the New Hurford Roasted Blackbutt Flooring.

The opening of our new office has been delayed due to the rain but all going well should be completed by End of September. The office is taking great shape and we have used new and recycled timber and flooring in many exciting ways internally and externally.

To visit the office please call and make an appointment.

Office Hours Monday to Friday 7am to 5pm.

Nash Timbers would like to introduce Tom Lamont, who started in June. Tom left school last year and he has joined Nash Timbers as a trainee from TABMA. Tom is an avid Rugby Player, plays First Grade Colts at Sydney University. He is in his First Year at TAFE undertaking Floor Finishing. Tom will be helping David with measuring and quoting with the installation component of Nash Timbers and been involved with that part of the business.

The Timber presentations were heavily supported by our clients, it is nice to be able to meet the face behind the voice, and we will schedule new dates when the showroom opens.

F.A.Q

Is Blackbutt recommended for external use?

Blackbutt is not a Nash Timbers preferred external timber. If using externally it must be coated and treated as specified. Blackbutt is Class 2 but Class 1 is the better option for external use. Blackbutt has more gum veins which allows for water to penetrate into the timber. Also it does not have the oil content of Tallowwood and Spotted Gum.

OOPS!

Nash Timbers do not recommend staining Blackbutt Flooring unless an oil based stain is used; this ensures that tannin will not be present during the staining process.

‘SECRET OVERLAY’

Hurford Roasted is a process that has been developed to enhance timber flooring properties. Ultrahigh temperature and humidity to change the molecular structure of the hardwood and creates an extremely stable, more durable, denser product while darkening the natural colour.

The colour of the wood fibre changes drastically as the ultrahigh temperature is introduced- the higher the temperature the darker the change to colour of the fibre.

The colour change is permanent and penetrates the entire piece of hardwood

The Hurford Roasted process increases greatly the stability of flooring. The process reduces the normal shrinkage and swelling that traditional Kiln Dried hardwood can experience by up to 50%.

The Hurford Roasted process increases the natural durability by 3 to 4 times greater than the same species unroasted.
